For the Love of Deadpool

Deadpool is hands down my favorite superhero in the Marvel universe. I fell in love with Ryan Reynolds’s portrayal and humor of the first movie, and what better way to celebrate the second one than by attending a pop-up replicating Wade Wilson’s go-to bar, Sister Margaret’s School for Wayward Girls.

Hosted by Mike’s Harder a few weeks back at the Alligator Lounge in Brooklyn, it was a night of good drinks/pizza, mingling with mercenaries, amazing airbrushed tattoos, and bonding over Marvel’s funniest badass hero.

Caught an early screening of Deadpool 2 last night, and it was AWESOME! Catch Deadpool 2 officially out in theaters TODAY May 18.

TBT: FP Freestyle Party from a Guy’s POV

Happy throwback Thursday! About a month ago, Free People hosted a dance party to promote Freestyle, a collection of comfy bottoms that make you want to dance.

I could go on about how awesome of an experience it was, but figured, why not give you the low-down from a different, unexpected point of view?

Enter Jonathan, marketing extraordinaire and my significant other who I brought as my plus one. I asked him a few questions about the party – read below to see his answers!

What did you like most about the party?

The general vibe of the party was great. Good drinks and a great venue that overlooked the city.

Did you enjoy dancing to the music of the celebrity DJ Harley Viera-Newton?

Yeah definitely! The music was on point that night.

What surprised you most about the party?

I’d have to say the drinks. They were the healthiest cocktails I’ve ever had, and they were delicious.

Tell us about your outfit.

I had on red 7 For All Mankind jeans and a black and white plaid shirt from Express with a hint if red in it.

Overall what do you think of the Free People brand/clothing?

I think it’s a very fun brand and that really shows through their clothing and the dance party.

NYFW Fall/Winter 2017

Although I have been trying to post pictures every now and then on Instagram, it has been forever since I wrote a blog post on here. What better way to get back into blogging than to cover one of the most exciting times for any fashion lover – New York Fashion Week!

I had the pleasure of being invited to two shows at Skylight Clarkson for the Fall/Winter 2017 collections, and both collections were outstanding.

First up was the Leanne Marshall show. I was blown away by her Spring/Summer 2017 collection that featured lovely ethereal gowns, so you can imagine my excitement when I got invited to see her latest collection.

The color palette remained pretty neutral, with gowns in silky soft greys, mauves, light browns, and some black. What stood out to me most were the bold black and white floral prints and the pops of red, in a breathtaking gown, tassel earrings, and even the models’ lips! Overall it was a very romantic collection and some looks were perfect for Valentine’s Day that same week.

The other show I attended was that of Anniesa Hasibuan, an Indonesian designer. It was my first time seeing her collection, and I was pleasantly surprised to see her models going down the runway in hijabs. The models consisted entirely of immigrants and second-generation childen of immigrants, as Anniesa is a firm believer in equal opportunity and seeing beauty in everyone. With everything going on in our country, it was refreshing to see diversity during fashion week.

Anniesa’s collection was pure luxury, consisting of heavily embellished gowns, shiny and textured jackets, and poufy skirts and sleeves – all fit for a queen. My favorite item was the A embellished top, which is perfect for gals like me with an A (last) name!

From previewing these fabulous collections to hanging out at the Andy Warhol-inspired lounges at Skylight Clarkson, I had a great time at NYFW. Special thanks to The Riviere Agency for the invites and helping me be a part of this wonderful week. Looking forward to more shows next season!

Style Files: Weekend Warrior Outfit

image-4

After a whole week of work and dressing up for it (my industry is a lot more lenient than most, but it’s still super important to look stylish and professional), weekend afternoons are so perfect to just dress it down. As much as I love getting dolled up, I admit there are days when nothing’s better than throwing on a t-shirt and leggings and wearing only neutral colors. With that being said, it does not mean you have to skimp on style and be totally basic. Wearing a graphic t-shirt such as this Dream Catcher one from Lights Alive Apparel (if you read my first post you should be familiar with this brand and if not, read about it here) and quirky accessories can help turn your lazy weekend look into something so much more.

Concert Diary/Style Files: We Are Savages Tour

image-3

Last night was the NYC show of the We Are Savages tour, headlined by Breathe Carolina and included Ghost Town, Mod Sun, Johnny Craig, Lionfight, and Divided By Friday. Unfortunately, I was only there long enough to see Divided By Friday and Ghost Town since my boyfriend wasn’t feeling well. We left right after Ghost Town’s set, but it wasn’t a total loss since both bands were pretty awesome.

Divided By Friday

It was my first time listening to Divided by Friday, and I thought they were great. They looked quite dapper in their outfits, so they automatically get an A for style in my book. Their songs were upbeat and really kept the crowd going. Some people may or may not agree with me for saying this, but their music and fashion sense really reminded me of Panic! At The Disco.

Ghost Town

The one band I was really looking forward to seeing on this tour was Ghost Town, one of my favorites. I discovered them last year when they were on tour with Marianas Trench and saw them again (& met lead singer Kevin!) when they headlined the Bryan Stars Tour. I was pretty bummed that they played a lot less songs last night and not even a single acoustic one, but their performance was still as amazing as ever. They even played a brand new song called “I’m Weird,” which is not even released yet. I cannot wait to see them again at Warped Tour this summer!

Here’s Kevin! He was so nice when I met him last year, and I really like his new hairstyle and Breathe Carolina tie dye shirt.

The crowd goes wild! 🙂

For this show, I pulled together a pretty simple black outfit so I threw in a spiked beanie, floral printed cardigan, and adorable cat tights to make it more fun for the occasion.

Lots of great concerts to look forward to this year, and one question remains–what should I wear? Every concert varies, from venue to artist, so it’s important to dress appropriately for whatever situation you’ll be in. I pulled together some pieces from my own closet to create outfits of what I would wear to three different types of shows.

For Summer Festivals (an easy, breezy look to get through the heat):

Slip Dress: Free People // Boots: Sam Edelman // Bag: Vintage Gucci // Necklace: Urban Outfitters // Sunglasses: Ray Ban // Flower Crown: Claire’s // Bangles: Alex & Ani

For Special VIP Shows (a chance to really step it up & go all out):

Beaded Top: Parker // Pleather Shorts: H&M // Bag: Kate Spade // Heels: Prabal Gurung for Target // Ring: YSL // Bracelet: gift, no brand

For the Pit (standing right in the crowd, you’ll want to dress with comfort in mind):

Crop Top: Anthem Made // Denim Shorts: American Apparel // Beanie: Anthem Made // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs // Slip-Ons: Toms // Sunglasses: Peter Pilotto for Target // Bracelets: Laila Rowe, Marc Jacobs
